Acorn Pre-School was established in 1970 and was held in the Baptist Church Hall in Bedford
Road and then later in the Methodist Church Hall, Ampthill Road. In January 2006 the
pre-school committee were approached to build a new school which would enable us to
improve our facilities as well as provide wrap around care to fit in with new government plans. Our new premises officially opened on 26th April 2008. This is a purpose built, purpose designed building for our pre-school which has enabled us to offer an even better pre-school to Shefford and the surrounding villages.
The maximum number of children in our pre-school is 26 per session, aged between 2 years and 9 months up to 5 years. Our 10 sessions per week run from 9.15am to 11.45am and 12.45am to 3.15pm. We offer children the opportunity to learn through play in a stimulating and nurturing environment. We recognise that every child is an individual with their own character, abilities, sense of humour and needs.
Our staff are extremely qualified ranging from NVQ2 up to Diploma in Pre-School practice and between them have over 30 years experience of running a pre-school.

FAMILY PHOTO SESSION
On Saturday 9 October 2010 we will have a photographer in the pre-school room. Please
sign up to a 10 minute session. Bring along your child and anyone else you would
like in the photos. The photographer will take very modern, relaxed photos of which
you can choose to purchase (not on the day). Proceeds will go towards our school.
Our new premises allow us to run a morning, lunch and after school club. The morning
(8.00am – 9.15am) and afternoon club (3.15pm – 5.00pm or 3.15pm – 6.00pm) is open
to children aged 2 years 9 months to 9 years and runs Monday to Friday. Our lunch

also runs Monday to Friday.
